When I look through my diary on a weekly or even monthly basis – the Hypno-gastric band always jumps out to me as being one of the most popular sessions that I book in. So what is the Hypno-gastric band and how can it be helpful in weight loss?
It is important to keep in mind there is no fast track method to weight loss and hypnotherapy is not the magic wand that will make you never have to diet ever again. It is all about changing the way we think about food and being able to be in control of eating habits. We help you to recognise where changes need to be made and help you to create new beneficial eating habits, for example cutting down on portion size or swapping crisps for an apple.
We will go through and show you images and videos of the Hypno-Gastric band so you know what to visualise in the sessions and will always explain every step of the way what we are doing and why we are doing it, as well as how you are likely to feel during the operation so there really is nothing to worry about.
Of course it is also important to mention that clients have the option of following the treatment and suggestions we give in order to gain a healthier lifestyle – but this will require work on your end as well as mine, as you need to recognise what you are eating and make sure you still to the healthier choices you have made.
How Many Sessions Will It Take?
The Hypno-Gastric band course is four sessions and in these four sessions we focus on different techniques to either fit the band and to also help you change your eating habits. We start by introducing the new eating habits and begin making changes for a healthier lifestyle. We then move on to the pre op session – making sure we have done everything we need to before we move on to the operation session where we will fit the band. I then like to give you a few weeks to really see how the band feels and to make sure you are happy with it before you come back for your final sessions where any adjustments can be made to the band. I also encourage clients to come back should they want any more adjustments made to the band or even just a little bit of motivation to keep them on track.
How successful is the Hypno-Gastric Band?
This really depends on the individual as clients who are genuinely very motivated and willing to get involved with the positive changes are the one who are most successful. I usually advise that 3lb per week is a good amount to aim for as it allows you to make sure you can maintain your goal weight by having a much healthier lifestyle. However introducing exercise and really reinforcing the sessions by listening to CD’s may lead to you seeing even better results in terms of weight loss. However we don’t want you to lose the weight too quickly as it is not healthy for your body and by losing the weight gradually you are much more likely to have longer term results. It is all about giving you a healthier lifestyle and reinforcing it with the hypno gastric band.
How safe is the hypno-gastric band?
The simple answer is yes the band is safe. We can continue to make adjustments and on the odd occasion we can remove the band if you feel like it is not agreeing with you. The Hypno-Gastric band is a way of having a gastric band fitted without the risks of surgery. Nothing about hypnosis or hypnotherapy should be dangerous or scary with the right therapist who is correctly trained – so don’t be afraid to ask to see certificates to put your mind at ease.
